Dear Future Sponsors of Bishop Ireton Athletics,

  Bishop Ireton has been part of the fabric of Alexandria life since 1964. A college preparatory high school, it also boasts a girl’s lacrosse team that placed 14 girls on the all-WCAC lacrosse teams, including the conference Player of the Year. Bishop Ireton also has All-American swimmers, National Champion oarswomen, the boy’s Virginia State Catholic League track and field champions, a Wendy’s All-American Student-Athlete, a hockey team that had a 12-1 season, two Washington Post All-Met first team selections, and many other successful sports teams. Almost 75% of the student body play at least one sport!

  The Bishop Ireton Athletic Boosters’ mission is to support these programs by making purchases of needed equipment for our teams and keeping fields, facilities and equipment in excellent condition. One recent upgrade you can see is the new scoreboard at Luckett Field on Duke Street. The Boosters purchased this scoreboard and it will be used by all local teams as well as our girl’s softball team.

  Bishop Ireton Athletic Boosters, a non-profit group,  will be holding a fundraiser, the Third Annual Cardinal 5K Run on October 23rd, 2011. This event will start and end at the Cameron Run Water Park on Eisenhower Avenue. This year the race will be a certified distance run and should attract several hundred runners.

  In addition to asking for sponsors of the race, we are asking runners to donate canned goods, which we will be collecting for Alexandria area food banks.
